A gentle exfoliating and deeply hydrating facial for clients who want effective, pain-free extractions without aggressive resurfacing. Hydroboost combines a light polishing step with customized facial care, then finishes with low-suction hyaluronic acid + peptide serum to leave skin softer, smoother, deeply hydrated, and visibly plumper.
50 minutes — starting at $150
60 minutes — starting at $165
Little to no downtime.
Strong pre-event option.
Hydroboost is PemSpa's customized pore-clearing and hydrating facial for dehydration, dullness, blackheads, clogged pores, and clients who want visible hydration without aggressive resurfacing.
Hydroboost is a complete customized facial, not a quick device-only treatment. Your appointment includes professional skin analysis, deep cleansing, extractions when appropriate, targeted massage, a customized treatment mask, and finishing care. Hydroboost adds its own result-oriented steps to that full facial experience.
Early in the treatment, your esthetician uses an ultra-light dry microdermabrasion polishing pass to gently prepare the surface. Most clients barely feel it, and it is not intended to function as a resurfacing treatment. The facial then continues with pore clearing, massage, and a customized mask.
The Hydroboost step comes at the end. Using low suction, the wand applies a hyaluronic acid and peptide serum to freshly treated skin. Hyaluronic acid helps attract and retain water at the skin's surface, supporting a plumper, softer, more hydrated appearance. Peptides support a smoother, conditioned-looking finish.
Every step is adjusted to your skin's hydration, sensitivity, congestion, barrier condition, and goals that day. The polishing pass stays deliberately light because resurfacing is not the point of Hydroboost. The goal is clear pores, a complete customized facial experience, and intensive finishing hydration so the skin looks refreshed, soft, and plump rather than stripped.
PemSpa is located in Newton Centre and welcomes clients from Newton, Brookline, Chestnut Hill, Brighton, Needham, Wellesley, and nearby Greater Boston communities for customized facial care.

If active breakouts and inflammation are your main concern, the Acne Clearing Oxygen Facial may be a better fit. If your goals are deeper texture, acne scarring, fine lines, or collagen support, Collagen Boost Microneedling may be more appropriate. If your skin is irritated or compromised, your esthetician may scale back treatment or recommend a calmer facial.

It is a good fit if you are more congested, have not had a facial recently, or simply prefer a less condensed experience.

1. Skin analysis and cleansing: Your esthetician reviews your concerns, hydration, sensitivity, congestion, current routine, and any areas that should be treated more gently. The skin is then thoroughly cleansed to remove makeup, sunscreen, oil, and surface debris.
2. Light polishing pass: Using the microdermabrasion handpiece at very low intensity, your esthetician lightly polishes the skin. Most clients barely feel this step. It prepares the skin for the rest of the facial rather than functioning as a resurfacing treatment, and additional exfoliation is used only if your skin actually needs it.
3. Painless extractions: Manual extractions are performed where needed, and this is the step most clients tell us surprised them. Nothing is forced. If an area does not release easily, your esthetician adjusts or moves on.
4. Targeted facial massage: Hydroboost includes approximately 5 to 15 minutes of targeted massage across the face, neck, shoulders, and arms while the mask and treatment steps allow. Massage is used to encourage circulation, release tension, and support the overall facial treatment while also making the appointment more relaxing. Pema’s background as a licensed massage therapist informs how this part of PemSpa facials is performed and taught to the team.
5. Customized treatment mask: A mask is selected based on your skin's hydration, sensitivity, congestion, and goals that day.
6. Hydroboost hyaluronic acid + peptide infusion: The facial finishes with the Hydroboost wand using low suction and hyaluronic acid + peptide serum. Hyaluronic acid helps attract and retain water at the skin’s surface for a softer, plumper, deeply hydrated look, while peptides support a smoother, more supple and conditioned-looking finish.
7. Finishing care: Your esthetician completes the treatment with moisturizer, SPF, and simple aftercare guidance based on your skin.
The light polishing pass before extractions gently clears the surface and helps loosen buildup first, so blackheads and congestion can be removed with far less squeezing and pressure. That is why pain-free extractions are one of the defining benefits of Hydroboost.
If a stubborn area needs more work, your esthetician will tell you before doing anything more and can stop, adjust, or move on. Nothing is forced.
HydraFacial is a specific branded treatment system. Hydroboost is PemSpa's customized Hydroboost Hydrodermabrasion Facial. Both are designed to combine exfoliation with hydration and leave the skin looking refreshed, but the devices, products, and treatment sequence are different.
A branded HydraFacial uses fluid-based device steps for cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and serum delivery. PemSpa's Hydroboost uses a different sequence: an ultra-light dry polishing pass, manual pore clearing, 5 to 15 minutes of targeted massage, and a customized mask, followed by the Hydroboost device at the end with low suction and hyaluronic acid + peptide serum for a deeply hydrated, visibly plumper finish.
PemSpa does not offer the branded HydraFacial treatment. If you are comparing HydraFacial with other hydrating facial options in Newton, Hydroboost is PemSpa's customized option for clients who want pore clearing, a full facial experience, targeted massage, and intensive finishing hydration in one appointment.
These are not two strengths of the same treatment. Microdermabrasion Diamond is the resurfacing facial: the diamond-tip exfoliation is the point of the appointment and is used when rough texture, heavier surface buildup, and dullness are the main concerns.
Hydroboost uses a much lighter polishing pass that most clients barely feel. It is preparation, not resurfacing. Choose Microdermabrasion Diamond when rough texture and resurfacing are the goal.
Choose Hydroboost when dehydration, tightness, dullness, blackheads, or clogged pores are the problem and hydration, pore clearing, and a plumper finish are the priority.
Most clients leave with skin that looks smoother, softer, clearer, and more hydrated, with a plumper refreshed finish rather than a tight or stripped feeling.
Mild temporary pinkness can still occur in congested areas or on sensitive skin, but the polishing pass itself is intentionally light and Hydroboost is not an aggressive resurfacing treatment. Most clients return to normal plans the same day, which is why Hydroboost can be a strong option before an event when you want smoother, plumper, hydrated-looking skin with little to no expected downtime.
For the next 24 to 72 hours, keep your routine gentle. Avoid retinol, strong acids, scrubs, exfoliating masks, and other aggressive actives unless your esthetician gives different guidance. Use a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and daily SPF.
If your skin is pink or sensitive, avoid heavy heat, sauna, and intense exercise for the first 24 hours. Wait until the skin settles before applying makeup; waiting until the next morning is the gentlest option after extractions or visible pinkness.
Add-ons are optional and should be chosen based on your skin’s needs that day.

“Wonderful experience to start my year! Had a [hydrating] facial with Pema and it truly exceeded my expectations. I have sensitive skin and have been dealing with pesky dryness. Pema was so helpful and thorough! I left the appointment feeling so zen and one week post facial, my skin still looks and feels amazing, hydrated and super clear. Can’t wait to treat myself to another facial at PemSpa!”
Yes. Hydroboost Hydrodermabrasion at PemSpa in Newton Centre is designed for clients who want blackheads and clogged pores cleared without the painful squeezing they may associate with extractions. No. Hydroboost is designed to be a comfortable facial from start to finish. The polishing pass is extremely light, extractions are pain-free, and the final serum infusion uses gentle low suction. Your esthetician adjusts the treatment to your comfort and skin condition throughout.
No. HydraFacial is a specific branded treatment system. Hydroboost is PemSpa’s customized Hydroboost Hydrodermabrasion Facial and uses a different device, products, and treatment sequence. PemSpa does not offer the branded HydraFacial treatment.
Hydroboost usually has little to no expected downtime, which can make it a strong pre-event facial. Mild temporary pinkness can occur in extracted or congested areas, particularly on sensitive skin, but it usually settles quickly. If you are new to the treatment or tend to stay pink after facials, book with enough time for your skin to settle before an important event.
Hydroboost can often be adjusted for sensitive skin because the polishing pass is intentionally light. It may not be appropriate during an active rosacea or eczema flare, on sunburned or broken skin, or when the skin barrier is already compromised. Your esthetician will assess your skin before treatment.
Many clients book Hydroboost every 4 to 6 weeks for ongoing hydration, clarity, and blackhead/congestion maintenance. Your ideal timing may be longer or shorter depending on dehydration, congestion, sensitivity, home care, and whether you alternate Hydroboost with other treatments.

The Hydroboost Facial results last longer when your home routine protects hydration, keeps pores clear without overdoing exfoliation, and avoids unnecessary irritation.
